This is not the way of Salaf

If someone differs with us, that doesnot mean he has become misguided. The companions of the prophet differed too yet they never laid allegations on each other neither they used rough words for each other. They used to discuss in the light of proofs while we discuss in the light of allegations. Lets see from where we have left the path of the companions and lets join that path once again:

۞ Questioner:

"Ahsanallaahu ilaikum, do you have any blessed advice which you can direct to your sons and brothers from the students of knowledge throughout the Islamic ummah?"

Shaykh Fawzaan: "Yes, I advise you to fear Allaah, and to continue pursuing knowledge, doing so eagerly, and to act according to what Allaah has taught you, and to call to Allaah ﷻ, and to teach the people what you’ve learnt—and to leave squabbling, that which has taken place amongst the students of knowledge, hating [one another], cursing, setting people against each other, until they split the ummah and split the students of knowledge, [saying]: ‘Beware of so and so! Don’t sit with so and so! Don’t read to so and so!’—this is not allowed.

If so and so has a mistake, advise him one on one, as for you spreading it amongst the people and warning against him whilst he is a scholar or a student of knowledge or a righteous person who has made a mistake [then no], such a mistake does not necessitate that it be spread,

“Lo! Those who love that slander be spread concerning those who believe, theirs will be a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter. Allaah knoweth and ye know not.”

Surah Nur (24) ayat-19.

What is obligatory is to sincerely advise one another, what is obligatory is to love one another, especially the students of knowledge, especially the scholars, to respect the scholars, and not to recommend against some of them, and warn against them. This is the cause of many evils, the cause of fighting and hatred, the cause of fitnah—steer clear of these things.

May Allaah reward you all with good."

۞ Question:

“In recent times again and again the dispute comes up of which one says, “Such and such is not a Salafi” or “does not belong to the Salafees”. Is this expression considered to be Tabdee’ (i.e. a declaration of someone being an innovator)? And is it required to provide the evidence against him?”

Answer:

Shaykh Fawzaan: “By Allah, I warn against these types of disputes. I love the children of the Muslims and the students of knowledge for Allah’s sake. If Allah wills they are all found in good. All of them are upon the creed of the Salaf. Even if some of them have shortcomings or ignorance he is not thrown out of as-Salafiyyah because of it. These words are not permitted. These words are not permitted between the brothers, the students of knowledge, and the children of the Muslims in the land of the Muslims. These words are not permitted. It is required to give advice. If you have something to say about your brother, then you advise him. But rejecting him, saying he does not belong to the Salaf or to as-Salafiyyah?! Maybe you don’t know what as-Salafiyyah means! Because some of them call to as-Salafiyyah while they do not know it. Truly he might not even be a Salafi. If you ask him about as-Salafiyyah; ‘What does it mean?’, he won’t know. Yes.”

۞ Shaykh ‘Abdul-Muhsin bin Hamad al-‘Abbaad was asked:

“May Allah keep you firm! Is it permissible for the Muslim to boycott his Muslim brother and not give salaam to him, because he did not agree with him regarding the disparagement (tajrīh, from the word jarh) of some scholars?”

Answer:

“How evil is what this one has done! This one’s act is evil, meaning the issue of the disparagement of one, two, or more scholars; that if you agree with him regarding the disparagement then you are his friend, and if you differ with him then you are not. This speech is from the trials and from the tribulations with which some people have been afflicted, who preoccupied themselves with this, are preoccupied from knowledge, are busy with eating the flesh of the people, and who have filled their bellies with the flesh of the unaware!”

۞ Shaykh Saalih bin Fawzaan was asked:

“The questioner says: A huge problem for us or for many of the youth nowadays is the issue of declaring certain individuals to be innovators (tabdee’), wherein the people and the youth have split into two groups. One group accepts the tabdee’ of a scholar when it is issued and imposes it on others because this falls under accepting the narration of the trustworthy one. And the other group says that the issue of tabdee’ is from the matters of ijtihaad (juristic effort to infer expert legal rulings). So based upon this, whosoever is capable should look into this and then take that which his ijtihaad shows him. This matter has become really difficult upon us -may Allah protect you- so what is your advice to us?”

Answer:

“Allah has not commissioned you with making Tabdee’ on people and to pass on judgement on them to be innovators. Allah has not commissioned you with this. Seek knowledge for now. And once you have gained knowledge you will know what innovation and who the innovator is. As for unleashing your tongues on everyone who disagrees with you, or who has done something which you criticize him for and call him an innovator, then the sin of this will return to yourselves. The sin of this will return to yourselves! It is a duty upon a person to withhold his tongue from these matters and seek knowledge. He should preoccupy himself with seeking knowledge.

Allah has not commissioned him to scrutinize the people and to say: This one is an innovator, that one is a faasiq (sinner), this one has this and that one has this. Yes. It might be that he himself has worse mistakes than the criticized! It is upon us to fear Allah within ourselves.”

۞ Muhaddis Zubair Ali Zai (Rahimaullah) Said:

"The Taqleedi Salafis of England and likes have gone the way of lie, and extreme and they are refuting people of hadith and Scholars. For just a little thing or Ijtihadi mistake they take people out of bound of Salafiyah. People like these did existed in the past era. Hafiz Dahabi r.h. has said about these sort of people.
"They are not Ashaabul Hadeeth but sinner and ignorant, May Allah prevent (us) from their Shar."
From these liers, Abu Khadeeja Abdul Wahid bin aalim Meer puri, Yasir Ahmad bin Khushi Muhammad and Abu Yousaf Abdulrehman are popular in lying and false allegations."

۞ Shaykh ibn Uthaymeen says:
“It saddens us greatly to find enmity, hatred, conflict, hostility, contention and fanaticism for falsehood among many of the students of knowledge. Issues concerning the Sharee’ah are supposed to be the object of unity, harmony and understanding, not enmity, conflict, hatred, swearing, cursing and alienating, for this is in opposition to the Legislation and in opposition to what Allaah has ordered.”
