The Ruling On Deciding Someone's Akhirah

ro  -
Alhamdulillah..

The deed and aqidah of a believer should be that he should not interfere in the matters which are to be decided by Allah alone. This is crossing the limits as a believer which is a major sin. Deciding whether a person will go to paradise or hell is the right of Allah. We should not interfere in Allah's right. We should be more concerned on our faith and deeds then deciding other's faith and if someone does any mistake then instead of using words of ignorance we should guide them in the manner as taught by Quran. Allah says:

“Invite To The Way Of Your Lord With Wisdom And Beautiful Preaching, And Argue With Them In A Way That Is Best.”

Surah Nahl, Ayah- 125.

Now lets learn the mentioned topic in the light of authentic hadiths:

۩ Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said,   A man used to do sinful deeds, and when death came to him, he said to his sons, 'After my death, burn me and then crush me, and scatter the powder in the air, for by Allah, if Allah has control over me, He will give me such a punishment as He has never given to anyone else.' When he died, his sons did accordingly. Allah ordered the earth saying, 'Collect what you hold of his particles.' It did so, and behold! There he was (the man) standing. Allah asked (him), 'What made you do what you did?' He replied, 'O my Lord! I was afraid of You.' So Allah forgave him.

Sahih al-Bukhari,  Book of Prophets, hadith- 3481.

۩ Narrated Abu Hurairah: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say: There were two men among Banu Isra'il, who were striving for the same goal. One of them would commit sin and the other would strive to do his best in the world. The man who exerted himself in worship continued to see the other in sin. He would say: Refrain from it. One day he found him in sin and said to him: Refrain from it. He said: Leave me alone with my Lord. Have you been sent as a watchman over me? He said: I swear by Allah, Allah will not forgive you, nor will he admit you to Paradise. Then their souls were taken back (by Allah), and they met together with the Lord of the worlds. He (Allah) said to this man who had striven hard in worship; Had you knowledge about Me or had you power over that which I had in My hand? He said to the man who sinned: Go and enter Paradise by My mercy. He said about the other: Take him to Hell.

Abu Hurairah said: By Him in Whose hand my soul is, he spoke a word by which this world and the next world of his were destroyed.

Sunan Abu Dawood, kitab al Adab, hadith- 4901. Classed as sahih by Shaykh Albani.

۩ Narrated Abu Huraira: We went out in the company of Allah's Apostle on the day of (the battle of) Khaibar, and we did not get any gold or silver as war booty, but we got property in the form of things and clothes. Then a man called Rifaa bin Zaid, from the tribe of Bani Ad-Dubaib, presented a slave named Midam to Allah's Apostle. Allah's Apostle headed towards the valley of Al-Qura, and when he was in the valley of Al- Qura an arrow was thrown by an unidentified person, struck and killed Mid`am who was making a she-camel of Allah's Apostle kneel down. The people said,   Congratulations to him (the slave) for gaining Paradise.   Allah's Apostle said,   No! By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, for the sheet which he stole from the war booty before its distribution on the day of Khaibar, is now burning over him.   When the people heard that, a man brought one or two Shiraks (leather straps of shoes) to the Prophet. The Prophet said,   A Shirak of fire, or two Shiraks of fire.

Sahih al-Bukhari, Book of Oaths and Vows, hadith- 6707.

۩ It was narrated from Hudhaifah bin Yaman that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
Islam will wear out as embroidery on a garment wears out, until no one will know what fasting, prayer, (pilgrimage) rites and charity are. The Book of Allah will be taken away at night, and not one Verse of it will be left on earth. And there will be some people left, old men and old women, who will say: “We saw our fathers saying these words: ‘La ilaha illallah’ so we say them too.” Silah said to him: “What good will (saying): La ilaha illallah do them, when they do not know what fasting, prayer, (pilgrimage) rites and charity are?” Hudhaifah turned away from his. He repeated his question three times, and Hudhaifah turned away from him each time. Then he turned to him on the third time and said: “O Silah! It will save them from Hell,” three times.

Sunan ibn Maajah, book of Tribulations, hadith- 4049, Classed as sahih by Buwaysiri in Misbaah az-Zujaajah (2/291); Classed as sahih by Shaykh Albaani in Silsilat al-Ahaadeeth as-Saheehah (1/171).

۞ The attitude of a believer towards his akhirah

Amr bin Maimun r.a. narrates: [When Umar r.a. was wounded and he was near to his death] A young man came saying, O chief of the believers! Receive the glad tidings from Allah to you due to your company with Allah's Apostle and your superiority in Islam which you know. Then you became the ruler (i.e. Caliph) and you ruled with justice and finally you have been martyred.
Umar said, I wish that all these privileges will counterbalance (my shortcomings) so that I will neither lose nor gain anything (on the day of judgement).

Sahih al-Bukhari, Kitab Fazail Ashaab an-Nabi ﷺ, hadith- 3700.
